When the days grow shorter and the brisk chill of autumn fills the
morning air, I can't help but smile. I love this time of year more
than any other. Time to break out my suede jacket and pile an extra
comforter on the bed!
To help you prepare for the season ahead-the family
get-togethers, celebrations and holiday rituals — we offer
you plenty of inspiration. Start with Maitée Rossoukhi's
article on simple Yoga poses to help ward off seasonal stress. Then
take a moment to read our feature story about four remarkable women
who are changing lives for the better — from young girls to
the disadvantaged — in our community.
To make the most of the celebratory days ahead,
take advantage of André Carthen's "holiday hiatus"
menu, Tracy Pfautch's fashion forward advice on the season's top
accessories, and Ann Willard-Bevans' travel suggestions. Or, if
you enjoy nothing more than window shopping this time of year, we'll
give you a peek at what's dazzling in the glass at Bryant &
Sons Jewelers.
As the year comes to a close, it's always
wise to take stock of life's truly precious gifts, such as our health
and financial security. Dr. Allison Mayer-Oakes provides an overview
of how to protect ourselves as we age, and Mary Ellen Tiffany and
Terease Chin offer practical advice on estate planning and trusts.
As your calendar fills with occasions and
your "to-do" list grows, make sure to catch your breath
and take time for yourself. I wish you all the joys of the season
and good health, prosperity and happiness in the coming year.
